The Day Today
2 Discs
Episodes 1 to 6

'The Day Today' was hailed as a landmark in British television which made it impossible to watch the news without laughing like mad. Following its transmission in January 1994, hoards of seasonal newscasters resigned in shame as the programme scientifically proved their jobs were wrong.

Anchorman Christopher Morris had been fired from ITN in 1989 for using make up on disaster victims, but was hired by The Day Today for precisely the same reason. Collatallie Sisters single-handedly revolutionized business news with the graphic finance arse. Sportscaster Alan Partridge was amiable enough and Peter O'Hanraha'hanrahan won repeated awards for dreadful persistence!

Special Features:
- Audio commentary with Chris Morris and Armando Ianucci.
- Stills gallery.
- Steve Coogan/Mark Radcliffe interview providing insight into making of the show.
- Biographies.

24 Hour Party People
2 Discs

Tony Wilson: a young Cambridge graduate and TV presenter, inspired by the Sex Pistols' first Manchester gig, founds Factory Records and the Hacienda night-club. The bands he signs include: Joy Division (New Order) and the Happy Mondays, while the Hacienda transforms Manchester into "Madchester" - the place to be.

All this is built on Wilson's anarchic business philosophy: no contracts, just passion, music and hedonism - if the bands don't like it they are free to leave. No-one leaves, but with mounting debts and hangovers rocketing, things do get completely out of hand. Steve Coogan is perfectly cast as Wilson, struggling to hold it together in a world of vice and angst-ridden geniuses, in this brilliantly sustained portrait of the Manchester scene from director Michael Winterbottom.

Special Features:
- Tony Wilson commentary.
- Commentary with Steve Coogan and Andrew Eaton.
- Artists' commentary from Peter Hook, Rowetta, Leroy Richardson, Bruce Mitchell, Miranda Sawyer, Bobby Langley and Martin Moscrop.
- Sleeve notes.
- 'White Rabbit' style guide.
- 24 deleted scenes.
- 'Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches' documentary (47 minutes long).
- 'Portrait of a Filmaker' documentary (23 minutes long).
